Is CBD Legal In California?

Is CBD Legal In California? - NanoCraft

California was the first state in America to legalize CBD. Interestingly, you can import and sell CBD products in the state of California. But there is a catch; you can only do this for medicinal reasons. Any other reason like recreational is illegal. Medicinally, CBD is used for therapeutic and healing purposes. It likewise helps with inflammations, seizures, anxiety, and psychosis. In the application of CBD for medicinal reasons, traces of THC are usually extracted due to the various side effects associated with it.

States Where CBD Is Allowed

In the United States, several States have passed laws sanctioning the use of a CBD extract, but I will only mention a few. Are you ready? Great, let's dive in;

1. Georgia

On 16th of April 2015, the Governor of Georgia Nathan Deal signed Haleigh’s Hope Act allowing the use of CBD oil for treatment. It was to be used for treating seizures, mitochondrial diseases, Multiple Sclerosis and sickle cell anemia. He did this for the families and patients who were suffering because of pain. He wanted them to return home, reunite with their families and receive the much-needed care and treatment needed.

2. Alabama

On 1st April 2014, the Governor Robert Bentley signed Carly’s Law which defended against prosecution for CBD possession by people who were suffering from epileptic conditions. Doctors were allowed to recommend medical marijuana to their patients.

3. Delaware

On 23rd June 2015, the Governor Jack Markell signed Rylie’s Law. It allowed those patients with intractable epilepsy or involuntary muscle contractions younger than 18 years of age to use it, but only for medical reasons. According to the law in Delaware, CBD oil must not have more than 7% of THC present in the product.

4. Florida

On 16th June 2014, the Governor Rick Scott signed the SB1030 law. It allowed patients to use non-smoked CBD oil that had less than 0.8% THC. It was for patients with cancer, muscle spasms or chronic seizures. He passed the law because he did not want to see children suffer but to get the best treatment.

5. Indiana

On 27th August 2017, the Governor Eric Holcomb allowed the use of CBD for treatment of epilepsy. The oil was not to have more than 0.3% THC.

6. Iowa

On 30th May 2017, the Governor Terry Branstad signed SF2360 into law. It stated that a person might recommend, possess, use, dispense, deliver, transport, or administer CBD by the new chapter 124E.

The Connection Between CBD Oil And Hemp Oil

Both CBD and Hemp are extracted from the cannabis plant. But the slight difference lies in the fact that Hemp is extracted from the seeds while CBD is extracted from the flowers. Furthermore, Hemp is quite high in CBD but low in THC. Hemp is used in salad dressings, as a natural moisturizer, production of eco-friendly paints and lotions and skin products while CBD is used for medicinal reasons such as fighting against cancer, reducing schizophrenia symptoms, seizures and relieving chronic pain and inflammation.
