There is a lot to get excited about when researching potential health benefits of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) products.

People are looking to cannabinoids to help cope with post-traumatic stress disorder, various forms of anxiety, chronic pain, and a plethora of other ailments. Others like to incorporate pure CBD oil products into their everyday fitness routines to supercharge their workouts and improve recovery from intense bouts of exercise.

If you are reading this, you may be researching how Cannabidiol products derived from hemp are a way to incorporate some of the therapeutic properties of cannabinoids — without the intoxication or psychoactive effects, like marijuana which contains a high THC profile.

You may also be wondering if the effects of CBD are similar to THC...

“If I use CBD oil for its medicinal benefits, am I going to get high?”

The short answer is: No, CBD oil does not get you high.

Can CBD Give You A Body High?

This question has been difficult to address. The reason being is that often times when an individual experiences severe pain, any alleviation can make a world of difference and can often cause a feeling of euphoria because the relief can be overwhelming.

But again, the short answer is NO! Cannabidiol oil does not cause any sort of “high” or altered state of homeostasis.

WHY DON’T YOU GET HIGH FROM USING CBD PRODUCTS?

To understand why you will not get high from CBD alone, it’s important to understand where the product comes from and how the plant’s constituents interact with human physiology.

CBD is frequently confused with THC (which will get you high), and understandably so. The two compounds are closely related — both are cannabinoids, which means they both come from the cannabis plant.

The cannabis plant has two common varieties: one produces marijuana, and the other variety produces agricultural hemp. Both varieties contain CBD, but only the marijuana-producing variety contains significant amounts of THC, which have direct interaction with cannabinoid receptors (CB1 & CB2), causing the euphoric high.

On the other hand, CBD has an indirect interaction with CB1 and CB2 receptors. Cannabidiol interacts with other receptors that stimulate CB1 and CB2 and cause an upregulation in the bliss molecule, otherwise known as Anandamide.

Most CBD oil products, including Nanocrafts, come from the agricultural hemp plant that is considered phytocannabinoid rich. This plant contains only trace amounts of THC. That’s why CBD-only products won’t produce the mind-altering high that’s commonly associated with smoking cannabis.

To explain further, let’s take a step back and analyze why marijuana creates that euphoric high in the first place .

WHAT IS THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM?

Compounds found in cannabis plants are referred to as cannabinoids. Cannabinoids also naturally exist in the human body and work in tandem with the body’s endocannabinoid system(ECS), which have dense receptor networks throughout the central nervous system and the immune system.

The ECS is basically a network of receptors in the brain and throughout the body that participates in regulating some natural functions: mood, sleep, appetite, etc.

There are two primary endocannabinoid receptors:

  1. CB1 receptors are found in the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). CB1 receptors interact with nerve cells in the brain to help regulate the body’s biochemistry.
  2. CB2 receptors are found in white blood cells (peripheral nervous system). CB2 receptors interact with white blood cells to manage responses from the body’s immune system.

Cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis plants interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors to help regulate the aforementioned functions.

Other than CBD, Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the other dominant compound in cannabis plants. THC is the compound that primarily binds with CB1 receptors in the brain. This is what produces the cerebral high effect that is most commonly associated with smoking marijuana.

CBD, however, binds itself with the CB2 receptors throughout the body and interacts indirectly with CB1 within the immune and central nervous system. This is the contributing evidence showing CBD oil’s effect in reducing inflammation, lowering anxiety and helping with chronic pain.

Cannabis plants have a certain ratio of THC and CBD compounds depending on the type or strain of plant. Some plants will have a higher concentration of THC and can have more psychoactive properties.

Pure CBD oil is most often produced from hemp plants, which only have trace amounts of THC. This is why CBD products like Nanocrafts do not have psychoactive effects and won’t alter your state of mind.

HOW DOES CBD MAKE YOU FEEL?

So now, you might be asking yourself: “If CBD doesn’t produce that cerebral high, what am I going to feel when I use CBD oil?”

The application behind CBD use is to engage the immune system in a way to achieve better balance and adapt physically to stress and other condition changes.

Regular users of CBD oil products often report feelings of heightened energy, improved sleep patterns, and increased relaxation. While these can make someone feel relaxed and refreshed, it’s not the cerebral, psychoactive high that comes from consuming THC, if anything you tend to feel nothing at all...Neutral in a sense.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR CANNABIDIOL USERS?

If you’ve been on the fence about trying CBD oil because you don’t want to get high, don’t worry.

As you look for the right products to incorporate into daily life, be sure to focus your search on hemp-derived Cannabidiol products. Because the hemp plant contains only a trace amount of THC, you won’t experience the high that’s associated with marijuana.

Hemp-derived products, like Nanocrafts, will allow you to incorporate all the benefits of CBD — without the psychoactive effects of THC that you’ll find in marijuana.
